Barbados Turn, Hillarys

Our clients were so impressed with the amenity and lifestyle they enjoyed in the prestigious Harbour Rise Estate in Hillary’s that they only agreed to build a new home when they discovered another block just up the street.

A timeless, yet modern style

Because the family had lived on Barbados Turn for some time, they had grown to know and love the area and were reluctant to move too far away. Finding they could purchase a vacant block on the same street sealed the deal for them.

As this was their second home, in the popular Harbour Rise Estate, they understood the Harbour Rise restrictive covenants would govern almost every custom design aspect of their new house. Even key elements such as colour, form and materials.

They were happy to meet the covenants because they loved the local character and the classic coastal style which predominates in the area. Knowing they would be surrounded by prestigious, quality homes, of similar style gave them the confidence to build.

The brief

Working with Architect, Jodie Sanders, who oversaw the final design, Brooks Construction used their advanced Archicad design software to capture and incorporate the client’s design concepts. They specified a contemporary two storey home, with modern finishes and features. The fit out was to be carried out to a high standard. The client’s vision was for understated opulence achieved by the use of creative design and modern materials to create a harmonious yet practical living space. The home was future proofed with the inclusion of a lift to the upper floor. To complement their lifestyle, the clients required a generous size alfresco and a resort style pool set in low maintenance landscaping.

The budget

The budget for this home was a generous $1,25 million, ensuring that the family received an exceptional individually designed home, that exceeded their expectations, built to the highest specification and standard.

The build

Building approval from the Shire was obtained in 2 weeks and the whole property was completed well within the 12-month timeframe. From start to finish, construction and finishing took just 10 ½ months. Challenges included fitting large specialist glass panes to the alfresco and living areas to ensure the interior of the home enjoys plenty of natural light, and incorporating a study on the upper level overlooking alfresco and pool areas.

With its timeless front elevation and modern style, the home has great street appeal. The double height entry accentuates the feeling of light and space and the high polished balustrading and supporting columns to the gallery landing and throughout bring the design together. The home flows seamlessly through bi-fold doors opening up the alfresco and kitchen onto the pool areas.

We believe this beautifully finished home showcases the collective talents of our designers and specialist craftspeople.
